Kogi Sets 65-Year Retirement Age for Teachers

By G9ija

The Kogi State government has set the retirement age for teachers in primary and secondary schools in the state at 65 years.

Commissioner for Information, Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed that the weekly executive council meeting endorsed the new retirement age for teachers, which is five years more than the 60 set for other civil servants in the state.

According to Fanwo, it is the domestication of the 65-year retirement age policy already on place at the federal level.

He said, “The development will enable students to draw from the wealth of experience and expertise of teachers to better their academic pursuits.”

The meeting also approved the purchase of 32-seater buses each for the Kogi United Football Team and Confluence Queens football clubs.
