Julius Abure:They have stolen what is not for them and they will not sleep until we recover it all

As reported by the Independent paper on August 28, 2023, Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has conveyed to supporters of the party in the United States of America that Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 elections, is expected to be declared the President of Nigeria. This declaration is anticipated ahead of the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).

Since the conclusion of the election, PEPT has been deliberating on the arguments presented by Peter Obi and the Labour Party, challenging the victory declaration of Bola Tinubu, the frontrunner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election and the legitimate president of Nigeria.

While on a tour of the United Kingdom and United States to motivate party members and supporters, Julius Abure expressed confidence in Peter Obi’s candidacy. Abure remarked that the Labour Party and Peter Obi have altered the political discourse in Nigeria through their participation in the 2023 general election. He emphasized that their efforts have shaken the political landscape and that they are determined to challenge any perceived electoral irregularities.

He added: “We gave them a run for their money. They have murdered sleep and they will sleep no more. They have stolen what is not for them and they will not sleep until we recover it all.”

Abure noted that a judgment from the PEPT is expected to be delivered by or before September 16, 2023. He firmly believes that Peter Obi will emerge as the President of Nigeria. Abure encouraged supporters to remain optimistic, resist discouragement, and uphold the hope that positive changes are still possible for the country.
