PDP Rejects PEPC Verdict

The PDP has refused to accept the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which upheld President Bola Tinubu’s election on Wednesday.

The NIGERIAN TRIBUNE reported that Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the Party, in a statement released after the verdict says  “Few moments ago, the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) delivered Judgment in the Petition filed by our Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Candidate, Atiku Abubakar against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the declaration of the APC and Senator Tinubu as Winner of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election by INEC.

“As a party, we have had an initial review of the Judgment as delivered by the PEPC and we unequivocally reject the said Judgement in its entirety.

Debo Ologunagba expressed that the verdict goes against logic, the evidence presented in court, electoral laws, guidelines, regulations, and the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 (as amended). He believes the judgment is laden with technicalities and lacks substantial justice.

The PDP, as a party that respects the law, will conduct a thorough examination of the judgment with our legal team and determine the appropriate legal course of action.

He added that The PDP urges Nigerians to stay vigilant, composed, and unified as our party continues to take the lead in safeguarding democracy and upholding the people’s choice as manifested in the Presidential election held on February 25, 2023.
