Domestic violence: Popular Lagos car dealer, IVD’s wife, Bimbo is dead
Bimbo, the wife of popular car dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD, has died. Her sister confirmed her death on social media a few hours ago.
Bimbo was rushed to the hospital earlier this week after suffering severe burns during a violent incident at their home in Megamound Estate, Lekki, Lagos. Their home was set on fire as a result of the fight. IVD was said to have escaped with minor burns, whereas Bimbo suffered severe burns and was rushed to the intensive care unit. Sadly, she lost her battle for life.
Her sister announced Bimbo’s death on social media, this is what she wrote,
“Bimbo is gone, Bimbo is gone, My sister is gone.”
The fire is consuming me haaaaa You murdered my only sister, Abimbola IVD KILLED MY SISTER, IVD KILLED MY SISTER IVD KILLED MY SISTER, IVD KILLED MY SISTER IVD KILLED MY’
She stated in another post;
“Abimbolaaaaaa, My Bobby, this was never our agreement.” Unspoken words you’ve left behind
Undone things we’ll never do together, why why why
You’ve broken my heart.
A taste of sorrow has been fed to us……
I will truly miss you; if you can hear me, please wake up Bobby until we meet again.”
Her death follows many years of physical abuse from her husband, the father of her five children.
Bimbo regained consciousness in May 2019 after allegedly being beaten to a coma by her husband during her pregnancy. At the time, she was eight months pregnant.
Then, on October 4, 2020, IVD released a video of him reconciling with his wife, just days after she published an exposé detailing how he allegedly subjected her to domestic violence for 19 years.
