When Tinubu Was The Governor Of Lagos State, He Was A Championship Of True Federalism – Sylvester Ezeokenwa

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr Sylvester Ezeokenwa, has noted that when Bola Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State, that he was a champion of true federalism, recalling how Bola Tinubu clamoured for state police when he was the governor of Lagos State.

Speaking further, Mr Ezeokenwa made it clear there there is absolutely no reason why policing should remain in the exclusive legislative list, noting that the Inspector General of Police in Abuja doesn’t have the capacity to secure all the states in the country.

The APGA National Chairman made this disclosure when he was being interviewed on Channels Television, as he was reacting to the rising insecurity problem in the south east region.

He said: “When Tinubu was the governor of Lagos State, he was a champion of true federalism. I could recall as a lawyer, we read many cases bordering on attorney general of Lagos State and attorney general of the federation. One that kept resurfacing as long as am concerned and I stated it in the open letter I wrote to the president is the issuer of policing.”

Speaking about the south east security outfit Ebube Agu, Mr Ezeokenwa noted that there was really no consensus, towards formation of Ebube Agu security outfit, noting that there is nothing like Ebube Agu security outfit in Anambra State. He made it known that Anambra State has its own security, known as the Anambra State Vigilante Group.

In addition, he noted that there is a limit to what Ebube Agu and other security outfits in the south east can do, because there is a limit to the arms they are permitted to carry. He thereby urged Tinubu to look into state policing, so that states will be able to control their security architecture.
