Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Places N100m Bounty On Suspected Killers Who Beheaded DPO

The Daily Post reports that the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Saturday placed a N100 million bounty on the head one Gift David Okpara Okpolowu a.k.a. 2-Baba and members of his gang for beheading a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the State, Bako Angbashim.

The suspects perpetrated the gruesome murder on Friday night while the DPO and his men were on an operation in Odiemudie Community of Ahoada East Local Government Area.

As part of a concerted effort to find the killers to face justice, Governor Fubara announced that anyone who gives useful information that would lead to their arrest would get a reward of N100m from the state government.

A statement to that effect personally signed by the governor highlighted three key decisions the government has taken regarding the incident.

It read in part:

“First, the prime suspects, Mr. Gift David Okpara Okpolowu (a.k.a. 2-Baba) and all members of his criminal gang are hereby declared wanted.

“Secondly, a bounty of one hundred million (N100,000,000.00) naira is hereby placed on his head for anyone who gives useful information that would lead to his arrest and prosecution.

The third decision was the indefinite suspension of the traditional ruler of the area in whose domain the heinous crime took place, His Majesty, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi Eze Igbu Akoh II, for what the statement described as “acts of complicity in ceding control of his territory to the notorious David Gift and his gang to freely operate and carry out their criminal activities.”
