If Obi Was Better, Nigerians Would Have Voted Him – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said if the flag bearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, was a better candidate, Nigerians would have voted him in the February 25, 2023 poll.

Wike spoke exclusively on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday.

The former governor of Rivers State declared that in the hotly contested election, he supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate over former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the nominee of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Channels Television report that, Wike responded that he no longer talks about presidential candidates when asked if Obi would have managed the major problems facing the Nigerian economy better than Tinubu if he had been elected.

The FCT minister stated, “I don’t want to debate social media issue. “I no longer talk about presidential candidates; instead, I talk about the economy, the President, and what he can do.”

“If he (Obi) had been better, Nigerians would have voted for him.”

Former Anambra State governor Obi finished third in the election won by Tinubu of the APC. The LP candidate and his PDP rival are in court to contest the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) judgement announcing Tinubu as the election’s victor.
