'I Would Have Given President Tinubu Two People Who Could Have Been His Chief of Staff.' – Segun Sowunmi

Segun Sowunmi, a PDP chieftain, has stated that President Bola Tinubu should have appointed Fashola or Amosun as his Chief of Staff. In an interview with Channels TV , he stated that the two former governors would have given the president exactly what he desired. According to him, the Chief of Staff’s responsibility is not to present at every occasion but to be a vital actor behind the scenes.

”A Chief of Staff is not someone who is hugging the media; he does not have to be in every image,” he explained. That is not the point of that role. That function is similar to the strong man in the background who stays and ensures that whatever the President wants is done. Consider Dele Alake, the Special Adviser on Media, who has now been recognized as a minister. When was the last time you saw Femi Adesina and Abati standing pompously in photos?

I’m a Yoruba man, and these men are really making me seem bad. I expect them to pull their act together and clean up their act. Someone mentioned this to me before they were chosen, and I told them that if the President wanted my opinion, I would have recommended two candidates for Chief of Staff. And they will do extremely well, Ibikunle Amosun and Babatunde Fashola. These men would have brought in just what Tinubu requires.”
