Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, APC chieftain and former minister of Ation, said that he wonder whether ECOWAS or the African Union will also threaten to invade Gabon too.
Chief Fani Kayode made the utterance in a tweet he recently released on his official Twitter account, while reacting to the new military coup in Gabon where Ali Bongo, the elected president, was removed from power.
Recall that the African Union and the ECOWAS has been showing their concern over the coup det’act in Niger by military juntas where they removed President Bazoum who was democratically elected. ECOWAS had also threatened them, and even made several promises, to restore normalcy in Niger.
However, Fani-Kayode who may have been seeing the interest of ECOWAS over the case of military coup in Niger, and with a new coup in Gabon, reacted to air his view.
According to him,
“Sadly, another coup has taken place in Africa. This time it is in the nation of Gabon where President Ali Bongo has been removed from power…I am not surprised that this is happened and frankly, we should expect more coups in the Francophone countries of West and Central Africa for the reasons I stated before. I wonder whether ECOWAS or the African Union will threaten to invade Gabon too.”
