Buhari's Aide, Ahmad, Reacts After Court Confirmed Apapa As The National Chairman Of Labour Party

The Court of Appeal in Imo State has sacked Julius Abure, and reaffirmed Lamidi Apapa as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

The development has been generating mixed reactions on social media, and one of those who reacted was the aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad.

According to Punch on Thursday August 24, the court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize the names of all the governorship candidates that the Apapa-led faction produced in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states.

In addition to that, Senator Athan Achonu was dismissed as the governorship candidate in Imo State, including others that belong to Abure-led faction.

In his reaction to the development, Bashir Ahmad congratulated Apapa and described his victory in the court as well-deserved.

In the statement he made his official Twitter handle, he said – “Congratulations to Comrade Lamidi Apapa on a well-deserved victory at the Court of Appeal, confirming his position as the authentic chairman of the opposition party, Labour Party.”

Bashir Ahmad’s comment about the court victory of Apapa has been trailed by mixed reactions, especially from the Labour Party supporters who questioned him on why he is congratulating Apapa, and whether he is a member of the Labour Party.

The Labour Party has been embroiled in a leadership crisis, with the Abure-led faction and Apapa-led faction constantly being at loggerheads. With this recent court verdict, it remains to be seen how the party will react to this.
