Increase minimum wage to N100,000 instead of N8,000 palliatives – Primate Ayodele tells Tinubu

Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has asked President Bola Tinubu to increase workers’ minimum wage to N100,000.

Ayodele made this call in a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin on Thursday.

The cleric claimed that rather than the proposed N8,000 palliatives to 12 million households, raising the minimum wage would mitigate the effects of subsidy elimination.

The N8,000 palliatives, according to Primate Ayodele, won’t help the needy poor masses and will only encourage corruption.

He claimed that due of political corruption, palliatives would not seriously affect the populace. According to Vanguard.

Ayodele claims that the N8,000 palliative will be a complete waste of time since unscrupulous practises will ruin the procedure and prevent it from working.

If the government truly has the interests of the people in mind, he claimed, the minimum salary should be raised to N100,000.

Ayodele pointed out that an increase in the minimum wage will directly affect the populace.

He said, “The minimum wage should be raised to N100,000 if the administration truly cares about the people.

“It will go a long way towards mitigating the effects of inflation and subsidy elimination. An raise in the minimum wage will directly affect the people more than the N8,000 palliative.

“The N8,000 palliative is corruption, I don’t see anything in the palliative, and it won’t help the poor masses,” the speaker said. Even though the President has signed it, it won’t have any effect. The governors will utilise it for their own personal gain. It won’t appeal to the poor at all.
