Even if PDP has a chance in the court, it will not change my position- Nyesom Wike

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state and the current FCT minister, recently talked about the possibility of the PDP winning a case in the Presidential Election Tribunal Court. He expressed that even if the PDP were to win such a case, his stance wouldn’t change.

Wike shared his thoughts in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today show. The interviewer, Seun Okinbaloye, mentioned that some people think that if everything had gone well and the party members who were against Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate, had supported the PDP, their chances would’ve been better. Seun also said that some believe the PDP could still have a chance even without winning in court.

Nyesom Wike responded by saying, “You’re assuming things, but even if the PDP wins in court, my belief in fairness and justice won’t change. My stance remains the same. We argued that since a northerner was President for 8 years, it’s only fair that the South should also have a chance. That argument hasn’t changed. So, no matter how you look at it… but you know, I’m someone who believes that you can’t disregard others and claim you’re the only important one. Doing what’s right is important to me, always.”

He said that his point is that since a person from the northern part of the country was the President for 8 years, it’s now the turn of someone from the southern part to have a chance. This belief of his remains strong. He also emphasized the importance of treating everyone rightly, rather than thinking one person is more important than everyone else.
