The Forum’ s President, Terrence Kuanum, accused Atiku of rationalising the deaths in the area by Fulani herders.

He condemned Atiku’ s remark that the horrible murders were the result of ” continued confrontations between farmers and herders. ” .

In a statement, Kuanum lamented the ” unfortunate message credited to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar in which he just urinated on the graves of dozens of persons recently murdered by Fulani herdsmen in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue state. ”

” That the PDP presidential candidate referred to the heinous death of children, women, and the elderly in their sleep as a ” increase of intercommunal violence” raises questions about his level of insensitivity and culpability in the ongoing attacks on Benue communities, ” he continued.

” Also tragic and reckless is Alhaji Atiku’ s remark that the killings in Benue state were caused by a lack of inclusion and integration of individuals into communities where they live, work, pay taxes, and raise their children. ”
