Hausa people are the most populous tribe in Niger, they are 53% of the total population- Usman Yusuf

Professor Usman Yusuf, a former CEO of the National Health Insurance Scheme, recently made some claims about the predominant tribe in Niger during an interview with Arise Tv news. According to him, the Hausas are the dominant ethnic group in Niger, and he emphasized that there exists a significant cultural affinity between Niger Republic and Nigeria. He believes that any decision to declare war against Niger must be based on concrete reasons.

During the interview, Professor Yusuf highlighted the historical ties between Niger and Nigeria, stating that they share cultural heritage dating back to times before the creation of both nations. Also, he pointed out the extensive border they share, spanning over a thousand kilometers from the North Westly end in Kebbi to the North Eastly end in Borno. Within the Niger Republic, the Hausas make up a substantial 53% of the total population, with the presence of Fulanis and Kanuris as well.

Professor Yusuf raised a poignant question, questioning the rationale behind going to war and causing harm to people with whom they share such cultural and historical connections. He firmly believes that any President considering military action against Niger must provide clear and justifiable reasons for such a significant decision.

He pointed out the historical and cultural bonds between Niger and Nigeria, advocating for a thorough examination of the reasons before any declaration of war. In light of the extensive shared border and heritage, he urged caution and thoughtful consideration in making such crucial decisions impacting international relations.
