Niger Coup: Tinubu Meets Touray, Gen. Abdulsalami, NSA Ribadu

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with some critical stakeholders in the ECOWAS intervention in Niger Republic impasse as part of efforts to defuse the political crisis.

Leadership paper reported that, President Tinubu is the chairman of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Dr. Omar Touray, the president of the ECOWAS Commission, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former head of state of Nigeria, and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the president’s national security adviser, were present at the meeting, which was currently taking place at State House in Abuja.

You may recall that the Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, praised President Bola Tinubu for leading the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during the situation in the Niger Republic a few days ago.

According to a statement made public by the US state department, Blinken spoke with the president over the phone on Monday, as reported by The Cable paper.

According to the statement, President Tinubu presided over the second special summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the situation in the Republic of Niger, which was commended by the secretary.
