Gabon Coup: Onanuga Reacts As The Military Assumes Power In Gabon.

The former director of media and publicity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, has provided his reaction to the most recent coup in Gabon.

Ali Bongo, the president of Gabon, was deposed by the military soon after winning the election. To announce their takeover of power, soldiers from the nation appeared on Gabonese national television. The leaders of the revolution also proclaimed that Gabon’s democratically elected government would be overthrowned and that the election that was held on Saturday was illegal.

Onanuga responded to these recent events by calling the coup leaders “power-hungry dictators” on his Twitter account. Another instance of a military coup in Africa, wrote Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former communications advisor to the president of Nigeria. African leaders who cling to power are largely to blame for the slow growth of democracy.

According to Punch , efforts are being made to address Mohamed Bazoum’s ouster as the president of the Niger Republic, who was democratically elected, at the same time as this latest coup in Africa. The African Union (AU), which has condemned the coup in Niger, as well as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), have not commented on the situation in Gabon at the moment.
