Ganduje mocks Kwankwaso over FCT ministerial snub

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has come under fire from the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje in a viral video on Monday claimed Kwankwaso supported the contentious demolition of buildings in Kano. Ganduje spoke in Hausa to some of his loyalists and party supporters from Kano State who paid a courtesy visit to the secretariat.

In the two-minute, 28-second video, Ganduje stated that President Bola Tinubu was smart enough to see through Kwankwaso’s desperation to become the next Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

FUTA to equip health center

The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo States, said it has put in place all necessary measures to equip the medical facility of the institution following the death of a student last week.

A 500-level student of the university, Ayomide Akeredolu, on Friday reportedly slumped and died at the health center of the varsity. Angered by the incident, the students of the institution staged a protest, alleging that the campus hospital lacked amenities, causing the death of the student.

Speaking with our correspondent on the development, on Monday, the Director of Corporate Communication of the university, Mr. Adegbenro Adebanjo, said all the demands of the protesting students had been met and the health center had begun to function properly.

Over 60,000 people killed in farmers-herders conflict – Reps

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has stated that over 60,000 Nigerians have been killed as a result of the incessant clashes between herders and farmers.

He also lamented that, farmers and herders clashes which were hitherto seen as a regional or a confined conflict have taken a new dimension as it has expanded and grown into a wider conflict beyond the borders of many West African countries.

Abbas stated this in an opening address at the stakeholders interactive session held by the House Ad-hoc Committee on the ‘Recurring Annual Clashes Between Farmers And Herders In Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area Of Gombe State, And Neighbouring Local Government Areas, including Other Regions Of The Country With Similar Incidents’ on Monday.

Seven Kwara communities groan over 18-month blackout

Residents of no fewer than seven Communities in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State are groaning over incessant power blackout which has affected the area for more than 18 months.

The affected communities included Oke-Oyi, the headquarters of Ilorin East local council, Agbeyangi, Oke-Ose, Panada, Badi, Adelu and Oloro in the council area. According to the chairman of the Oke-Oyi Community Development Association, Alhaji Ahmed Seriki, the communities have been experiencing power failure in the last one and a half years.

He however called on Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company to restore electricity to the area after 18 months of power outage. Speaking in an interview with one of our correspondents in Ilorin on Monday, Seriki decried the situation and appealed to IBEDC to urgently address the issue.
