Russians Have Come In And They're Also On Their Way Into Niger Republic- Ambassador Aminu Wali

Ambassador Aminu Wali has raised concerns about the involvement of external forces in the ongoing situations in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. According to a report from the Sun paper, Ambassador Wali alleged that the Russians are reportedly making their way into Niger. He explained that the military coups in these countries appear to have garnered support from external sources. Ambassador Wali noted the distinction between the military interventions that Nigeria conducted in Sao Tome and Gambia compared to the current situation. He highlighted the challenges that arise from the proximity of Niger and Nigeria, making it complicated to engage in a direct conflict.

He expressed his observations, stating that the coup leaders in these countries seem determined to hold onto power. The Ambassador highlighted that the presence of these coupists has created instability in the sub-region. He further stated that the Russian involvement is a concerning development, with reports indicating that they are making inroads into Niger and engaging in discussions with the authorities there.

Ambassador Aminu Wali also acknowledged the difficulties arising from the border closures imposed by both Niger and Nigeria. He suggested that the impact of these closures is felt by both nations. In essence, Ambassador Wali’s remarks underline the complex regional dynamics and potential external influence in the ongoing political situations in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. He expressed concerns about the involvement of the Russians in Niger and the challenges presented by the geographical proximity of the nations involved.

Hear him: ”The Coupists are not prepared to leave. The Coupists have taken on. In fact, they have created a problem in our sub-region. Already, they were three being run by the military and already, the Russians have come in and they are also on their way into Niger. I’m sure they are talking to them. Sao Tome and Gambia, they are two different issues. But here, for us, it is very, very difficult. The closure of the borders that were imposed is biting both Niger and Nigeria.”
