Former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, says he is ready to make himself available to respond to issues bordering on his administration whenever the need arises.

Ortom, who lost his bid for a Senatorial seat on the Peoples Democratic Party said this in a statement by his Media Aide, Mr Terver Akase, on Wednesday, in Makurdi, the state capital.

I am capable of responding to the issues being raised against me and other officials of my government and I have always made known my belief in the rule of law.

I am ready to make myself available to respond to issues bordering on my administration whenever the need arises, Ortom said.

18 die in India railway bridge collapse

Police have said at least 18 people working on a railway bridge being built across a ravine in northeastern India were killed when it collapsed on Wednesday, with several others missing.

Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga said the incident occurred near Sairang, about 20km (12 miles) from Mizoram’s state capital, Aizawl. According to local media report, up to 40 workers were at the site when the bridge collapsed.

Senior local police officer Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng told the press that rescuers had retrieved 18 bodies.

In October last year, more than 140 people were killed in Gujarat when a pedestrian suspension bridge collapsed in India’s western state of Gujarat.

Mixed reactions trail Kumuyi’s comment on Tinubu’s administration

The General Overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, has set many talking on social media following a clip where he said the country will experience a better time under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and his ministers.

Kumuyi made this known Tuesday while addressing newsmen ahead of his church’s monthly Global Crusade starting Thursday.

Let’s forget the past. This is a new day and I believe we all believe that we’re going to see new things for our country through our President and the members of the cabinet. Good things will happen, the cleric said.

His statement has since got many talking on social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
