Former Minister Chidoka advises Tinubu on what to do in case tribunal removes him as president

A former Minister of Ation, Osita Chidoka has revealed what he believes President Bola Tinubu must do in the event that the election tribunal removes him as Nigeria’s president.

Recall that the Presidential tribunal has fixed Wednesday, September 6, to deliver its judgment on the numerous petitions filed against the victory of President Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election after weeks of listening to the arguments of the petitioners and the defendants.

Chidoka while speaking at a national dialogue and public presentation of 21 books in honour of Prof. Udenta Udenta, as part of activities to mark his 60th birthday in Abuja asked parties to prepare to accept the outcome, Vanguard reports.

The former minister advised President Tinubu to be ready to relocate to Lagos State and prepare for the 2027 general elections if he loses at the tribunal.

Chidoka said: “If the court says Tinubu is no longer the President, he should pack his things and go to Lagos and prepare for the next election. If they say he is the president, we will continue our agitation for the reform of the electoral management system.”

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi, are before the court, challenging the victory of President Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Obi, who came third in the election based on the results uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is challenging the poll’s outcome in 21 states, including 11 states where he won.

Similarly, Atiku Abubakar, in the election, claimed he was the actual winner of the poll.

Atiku and Obi have given their supporters and parties hope that the court would unseat the President, citing their numerous evidence before the tribunal.

The APC and Tinubu’s camp, however, have dismissed the optimism of the opposition, saying that the President is confident in winning at the tribunal because he won the election.
