Sai’du Alkali, the minister of transportation, has guaranteed rail passengers that his administration will offer sufficient security protections in response to the transportation sector’s economic expansion.
The Minister revealed this in Abuja while paying an unplanned visit to the Idu National Train Station.
Speaking about plans to modernize rail services, the minister pledged to work more closely with military high command to increase security along all train routes.
The Minister gave his word that the issue of the train cars, restrooms, lifts, and escalators being in poor condition will be addressed as quickly as possible.
Additionally, he thanked the security personnel for providing protection and assured them that all outstanding allowances will be paid without further delay. He also added that moving forward, payments would be made as they became due.
While stating that rail transportation services continue to be the best mode of transportation, Alkali advised Nigerians to use them despite efforts to run them in accordance with international best practices.
