The LP claimed that Tinubu did not obtain the required 25% of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In response, Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, argued that the FCT should be considered the 37th state for electoral purposes to avoid chaos and a distortion of legislative intent.

The LP, however, released a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, expressing its disagreement with Tinubu’s comments.

The party asserted that Tinubu’s remarks were unnecessary since the matter is already being addressed in court.

The LP firmly maintained that the established legal processes and requirements must be adhered to, regardless of any threats or pressure from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu’s party.

The LP’s statement emphasized that the APC’s attempts to influence the judges in the tribunal would not alter the legal procedures that have been put in place.

Moreover, the LP’s statement conveyed that Nigeria would remain peaceful even if the APC and its leaders were eventually removed from power.

The party countered that if there were no instances of absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when the APC assumed power, the country would similarly experience tranquility when the APC is eventually ousted from office.

The LP’s response sought to assert that the rule of law should prevail, and the judiciary should make decisions based on the merits of the case without succumbing to external pressures.

In summary, the LP has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s plea to dismiss the petition challenging his victory in the 2023 general elections.

The party emphasized that the legal processes should be followed, regardless of any threats or attempts to influence the judiciary.

The LP maintained that Nigeria would remain stable and peaceful, even if the APC and its leaders were removed from power, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law.
