‘I’ll Be Alive To Complete My Tenure’ – Akeredolu

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is optimistic of finishing his tenure after a medical vacation kept him away from duties for three months.

Akeredolu spoke on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, less than a day after his return from Germany.

“I came back yesterday, and as you know, it was a long journey. I decided that I must meet with you today. God has answered our prayers, and we give Him all the glory,” the governor said at the event where he handed over his resumption letter to the Speaker of the House of Assembly Olamide Oladiji.

“So, because we had to land here in Ibadan first, I said I have to meet with House of Assembly members here. We are here, and we are back. I am back, and by the grace of God, I will be alive to complete my full tenure in office.”

“I want to tell you that I am back, and I will resume work immediately. This is my letter of resumption,” he added.

Fayemi lauds Oyebanji’s performance

The immediate past governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, has applauded the sterling performance of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Fayemi said that he is happy the people of the state had already given him a pass mark barely a year into his tenure, saying he didn’t have to wait till mid-term to do an assessment of Oyebanji’s performance.

The governor gave the commendation on Friday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital commission the ultra-modern Ado-Ekiti Bus Terminal.

He said: “The evidence of your excellent performance is all over the place for everybody to see. I don’t have to wait till mid-term to do an assessment of your performance. The people have already given you a pass mark and I am happy you didn’t disappoint the people.”

“The successful completion of this ultra-modern bus terminal that is being commissioned today is one of such. I have also seen several other projects and programmes you are undertaking to the benefit of the people. This is the beauty of continuity we talked about, and I am so happy to be around to witness this.”

Don’t allow enemies portray Igbo’s as criminals – Gov Nwifuru tells Ohaneze

The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has tasked the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo to protect the image and value of Ndigbo from being tarnished by enemies.

Nwifuru who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, gave the advice shortly after a meeting with the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.

Nwifuru who also reacted to the viral video portraying Ebonyi people as criminals in Anambra State, described it as a purported attempt to tarnish the corporate image of the state and Igbos in general.

He urged the leadership of Ohaneze to remain a leading umbrella of Unity and Progress in the southeast zone, adding that no Igbo man can attain the level of sainthood by tarnishing the image of his or her brother, but ‘would summarily dent the collective image of the Igbo nation’.

The Governor, Nwifuru, however, enjoined the leadership of the group to use their influence in extending the content of their slogan, “ONYE AGHANA NWANNEYA” in propagating the unity and oneness of the people of the zone.

Again, unknown gunmen kill two Benue Guards members, lady in Logo LG

Two members of Benue State Community Volunteer Guards, BSCVG, and a lady have been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen at Ugba and Abeda-Shitile in Logo Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.

It was gathered that the attack also left several persons injured in the two separate attacks.

A source in the area who spoke on condition of anonymity said the armed men on motorbikes stormed the communities and opens fire on the unsuspected innocent victims on Thursday evening.

He said, “it was like what we see in the movies, they came on motorbikes and started shooting the people. Everyone fled for their lives but the two vigilante members were killed in the first attack at Ugba and when they (the armed men) entered Abeda-Shitile they also killed another innocent woman.”

“These attacks have become almost a daily thing in our communities. People are being killed just like that by armed men who just ride into our communities and kill people at will.”
