Pregnant women should avoid this foods completely

A healthy diet is crucial during pregnancy, but there are several items that pregnant women should avoid completely. Many people are aware of the dangers of eating high-mercury seafood or raw meats, but there are other items that many people would not expect to pose problems during pregnancy. Pregnancy weakens the immune system, making some women more susceptible to infection. Many foods contain bacteria or other infectious organisms that might cause issues during pregnancy. Even if the pregnant woman does not feel sick, some of these viruses may still harm the fetus. According to Healthline, here are some foods women should avoid eat too much when pregnancy.

1. Mercury-rich fish

Mercury is a dangerous element. It is prevalent in polluted water and has no known safe amount of exposure. It can be hazardous to your neurological system, immunological system, and kidneys in excessive doses. It can also cause major developmental issues in children, even at low doses. Enormous marine fish can accumulate large quantities of mercury since it is found in polluted seas. Avoid high-mercury fish including king mackerel, tuna (particularly bigeye tuna), marlin, and orange roughy.

2. Alcoholic beverage.

Although some women believe they can consume tiny amounts of alcohol while pregnant, there is no safe threshold for alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The umbilical cord transports alcohol from the mother’s blood to the fetus. This can result in a variety of physical and mental developmental difficulties.

3. Uncooked eggs

Salmonella bacteria can be present in raw eggs. Salmonella infections cause symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. In rare situations, the infection may cause uterine cramping, resulting in premature birth or stillbirth.

4. Uncooked shellfish.

All raw seafood, particularly raw shellfish, should be avoided when pregnant. Oysters, crab, and other raw shellfish may potentially contain the Vibrio bacteria, which can lead to cholera and other diseases. These infections could lead to serious and even catastrophic electrolyte and water loss from the body. Additionally, they might alter the immune system, which could be harmful to the child’s health.

5. Organ meat.

A rich source of many nutrients is organ meat. These include iron, vitamin B12, vitamin A, zinc, selenium, copper, and vitamin A, all of which are healthy for both you and your unborn child. Consuming excessive amounts of vitamin A, particularly during the first trimester of pregnancy, can cause congenital defects and miscarriage.

6. Uncooked or raw greens and sprouts

Sprouts and greens are generally excellent meals to include in the diet because they are rich in nutrients and fiber. However, some greens or sprouts could contain germs that might infect you, such Salmonella or E. coli. These diseases, which are among the most prevalent, can be fatal to a pregnant woman. E. coli must be avoided while pregnant.
