Fani Kayode Reacts After Military Took Over Power In Gabon And Arrested President Ali Bongo

Femi Fani Kayode, a former minister under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the recent coup that took place in Gabon barely a month after a similar incident in Niger. Recall that in th e early hours of Wednesday, some soldiers attached to the National Guard announced the removal of Presidency Ali Bongo after he spent 14 years in power. The coup occurred a few days after Bongo was re-elected into office in a widely criticised election.

Reacting to the development in a post on his official Twitter account, Fani Kayode stated that his recent post regarding the coup in Niger has become a prophecy because he already revealed that more coups should be expected in West Africa especially in the Francophone countries.

“It appears that the warning I gave in my last essay, titled ‘Does Killing Nigerien Babies Bring Glory To Our Name?’, was prophetic. I am not surprised that this has happened and frankly we should expect more coups in the Francophone countries of West Africa and Central Africa for the reasons I stated in that essay. I wonder whether ECOWAS or the African Union will threaten to invade Gabon as well?” He wrote.
