New APC Leadership Sends Message To Bola Tinubu Amid Fuel Price Increase

Under the leadership of Abubakar Kyari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has written to President Bola Tinubu requesting a postponement of the highly anticipated National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.

Earlier this week, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the acting national chairman of the APC, announced the resignations of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, his successor, and Iyiola Omisore, the party’s national secretary. It has been reported that the National Working Committee is considering holding a National Convention in October to finalize the process of filling these vacant positions, including the National Chairman and National Secretary roles.

Sources indicate that a letter from the interim APC leader to the President requested a meeting with the National Working Committee. Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-East, stated in an interview that convening the caucus and NEC meetings is currently the party’s top priority. He emphasized that the direction of the party will be determined after these two meetings, with the Convention not being mentioned at this time. Arodiogbu also mentioned that the president will have a private meeting with the new party leadership.

He further confirmed that the party has written to the president to inform him of the decision to postpone the caucus and NEC meetings as they are currently in the planning stage under the new leadership.

Arodiogbu assured that the departure of Kyari and some individuals being considered for ministerial positions will not create a void until an emergency Convention is held. He expressed confidence that the candidates for ministerial positions are committed to maintaining the party’s standing and will be selected based on the best course of action before the NEC meeting.
