Tinubu Cannot Resolve Niger Crisis; Look At What He Did To Nigeria—Bode George

A former deputy chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Bode George, has recently faulted the approach of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chairman of the ECOWAS group in resolving the Niger Republic Junta crisis. He alleged that it would be difficult for the President to use a diplomatic approach to reach an agreement with the Niger military Juntas because he’s so militant.

It would be recalled that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who happens to be the chairman of ECOWAS, has called for military action against the coup plotters in Niger, following an inconclusive democratic dialogue approach.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Arise , Bode George stated that President Tinubu is militaristic in his approach to resolving the Niger Junta crisis by giving the Juntas an ultimatum to cede power.

In his words, “find a way to discuss with the Niger current Head of State, yes, it was unfortunate that they didn’t listen to General Abdulsalam because you have them a 7-day ultimatum, that was the approach, and you don’t expect them to behave like schoolchildren by succumbing to your command. No, they can’t do that.

A military administration cannot resolve the problems of any nation; we have experienced it here; we saw what he did to the military himself; we saw what he did to the nation; look at the constitution we are running today; and that is why we are not moving forward. Because he’s so military in his status and in everything else, those are the areas we need to revisit. So, I would plead with the ECOWAS Heads of States to take caution, because they don’t know how it would end after starting it, and it is better to judge a war rather than fighting a war.”
