Tribunal: It is suspicious that Tinubu travelled without being worried that they may say he lost –James Ezike

A legal expert, James C. Ezike, has expressed his disappointment with the recent verdict delivered by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. He particularly questioned the tribunal’s interpretation of the Constitution, which treats the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a state. Ezike found it highly suspicious that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had traveled to India just before the judgment day without apparent concern about the possibility of losing his office.

Ezike commented, “It is indeed highly suspicious that Bola Tinubu traveled to India on the eve of the judgment without any worries that they might rule against him.”

During an interview on The Morning Show, a program on Arise Television, Ezike suggested that the tribunal’s decision regarding the status of the FCT was questionable. He argued that if the FCT were considered a state, it should have its own House of Assembly and be represented by three Senators in the National Assembly. According to him, the basis of law relies on experience rather than mere logic, and he considered the judgment to be the weakest aspect of the tribunal’s decision.

Ezike went on to describe the judgment as akin to a computer-generated outcome, where the judges appeared to have simply copied and recited the decision.
