'LP Had Discussions With 16 Political Parties Before Going Into The Presidential Election' -Dr Tanko

Amid rumors of private discussions involving Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, a notable northern politician and Labour Party chieftain, disclosed ongoing conversations between his party and other political entities well before the February 25 presidential elections.

Speaking on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ on Monday night in a video (1:34), Tanko, the Chief Spokesman for the Obi-Datti Media Office, shared that before the recent presidential polls, over 16 parties engaged in discussions with the Labour Party, aiming to collaborate in seizing power from the ruling APC. The focus of these discussions, he noted, was addressing the nation’s pressing issues.

He stated, “Conversations about potential alliances with like-minded parties are indeed happening. Even prior to the February 25 elections, these dialogues were underway. Collaborative talks with parties sharing similar principles and ideologies as the Labour Party are encouraging. As Nigeria faces critical challenges, parties with progressive orientations won’t permit its further decline. Our discussions were active even before the elections, involving leaders from 16 registered opposition parties.”
