Emefiele: 'Tinubu Should Not Allow DSS To Tarnish His Reputation Of Believing In Rule Of Law' -Okere

Kingdom Okere, the convener of Lawyers for Democracy, said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should uphold his image as a supporter of the rule of law in relation to the continued arrest of suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele. In an interview, he suggested that the President direct the DSS to allow Emefiele to get a fair trial. All of the accusations made against Emefiele by the DSS, in his opinion, are untrue.

”Tinubu is now the President of Nigeria and he has a track record of believing in the rule of law,” he remarked. He battled former president Olusegun Obasanjo, for instance, when he withheld the funding for the local government. According to Tinubu, the Lagos state House of Assembly has the constitutional right to expand local government. When President Obasanjo disagreed with him, he took the matter to court and zealously followed it all the way to the Supreme Court, where he ultimately prevailed. Therefore, we are urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to refrain from letting the DSS damage his name as a supporter of the law.
