We’re Prepared For Troublemakers’ – Police Issue Strong Warning Ahead Of Tribunal Judgement

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a warning to individuals or groups of people who may be contemplating causing trouble or unrest in response to the impending judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

As previously reported, the tribunal has scheduled September 6 as the date for delivering the ruling on the petitions challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. In a statement released on Monday, the Court of Appeal Registrar, Umar Bangari, confirmed that this long-anticipated verdict would be announced on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Bangari also noted that the court proceedings would be open to live broadcast by interested television stations, emphasizing that all necessary arrangements had been made to ensure the smooth delivery of the judgment for all three petitions. Additionally, adequate security measures had been implemented to maintain public safety and order, with only invited members of political parties and the general public permitted into the courtroom to prevent overcrowding and security breaches.

In response to inquiries from The Punch regarding security preparations leading up to the tribunal’s ruling, the police authorities assured that they had intensified security in various states to safeguard lives and property. The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, emphasized the police’s commitment to preventing unlawful activities by potential troublemakers and affirmed their collaboration with other security agencies in addressing such issues.
