Premium Times reported that the former Kaduna governor visited President Tinubu in the Villa on Tuesday, a day after he returned from his London trip, to discuss the delay of his confirmation as Minister. The report revealed that the former Kaduna governor told the President that there are powers in play, hence, the delay of his confirmation. He reportedly also told the President that he was no longer interested in serving in his cabinet.

Premium Times reported that before El-Rufai made his intention known to the President, the former Lagos governor had asked for a 24-hour grace to look into the purported petitions against the former Kaduna governor, after which a decision would be made.

The report revealed that El-Rufai, after his insistence to step down, recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as the new ministerial nominee from Kaduna State. He reportedly maintained that he would continue to work to ensure that the country moves forward from outside Tinubu’s cabinet.
