EFCC Message To Nigerian Youths

Dr. George Ekpungu, the secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has urged young people all over the country to view the Commission as a government institution working for Nigerians to purge the country of all types of economic and financial crimes.

He said that the EFCC is on the road to recovery and that every Nigerian should work with it to carry out its duty.

“Let the public not see the EFCC as ‘We’ and ‘Them’ or ‘They’ and ‘We’. It is we-we because without us doing what we are doing, the society will not be a better place for all of us”, he said. He further called on youths to shun all forms of indiscipline, greed, and get-rich syndrome stressing that they are the roots of economic and financial crimes.

He pointed out that every religion abhors corrupt practices.

Also speaking, Head of Economic Governance, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Sulaiman Muktar Bello warned Nigerians on the danger of Business Email Compromises, BECs, urging them to always follow up with phone calls on all business dealings online, as relying only on emails could expose them to fraud.

Speaking in the same vein, the Head of the Servicom Unit, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Mary Cole, and Head, of the Creative Engagement Unit, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Nwanyinma Okeanu charged youths to be the change they desire to see in the society.

“We need to take this country to where we want it to be, by becoming good ambassadors and correcting all wrongdoings in the society for a better future for our children and great-grandchildren”.

Okeanu’s views were further amplified by the Head of the Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Aisha Mohammed who charged youths to be good ambassadors of the Commission by championing the anti-graft cause and taking ownership of the fight against corrupt practices.

“EFCC cannot do it all alone, we need you to be our good ambassadors by passing this message to your friends, families, and colleagues”, she said.
