Buharists Now Orphans In APC–Sani

Former lawmaker Shehu Sani has mocked former President Muhammadu Buhari’s camp in the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the party.

DAILY POST reports that Adamu, the erstwhile APC chairman, tendered his resignation letter on Sunday night.

Following the development, Senator Abubakar Kyari, APC Deputy National Chairman (North), has taken over the affairs of the party.

Adamu is said to be an ardent supporter of the former president.

It was alleged that Adamu worked against the emergence of President Bola Tinubu prior to the presidential primaries and even after he emerged as the candidate of the party.

Sani, in a post his verified Twitter handle on Monday, following confirmation of Adamu’s resignation, made a veiled remark mocking Buhari’s supporters in the APC.

NPF Arraign Businessman For Alleged N1.8bn Fraud

Police operatives in Lagos have arraigned a businessman, Oluwafemi Michael before the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over his alleged involvement in an N1.8b fraud.

Michael was arraigned before Justice Peter Lifu on a nine-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and obtaining money by false pretence filed against him by the Police.

The prosecuting police officer, Chukwu Agwu, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences between January 2020 and May 2022 in Lagos State.

Agwu claimed that the Defendant, through his Guaranty Trust Bank Plc account number: 0164536253, Zenith Bank Plc Account Number: 2179082711, First Bank Of Nigeria Plc account numbers: 3062256110 and 2042628891 fraudulently obtained from one Danyan Amankop Udoh ‘F’ various sum of money under the guise that he will use or invest same in Interest Yielding Businesses, which he knowingly or reasonably ought to know that such fund is, or forms part of the proceeds of an unlawful act.

He further stated that the offences are contrary to Section 18 (2) (b) and punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibitions) Act, 2022.

APC Postpones NEC Meeting As Adamu, Omisore Ousted

The National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the resignation of national chairman Sen Abdullahi Adamu and secretary Iyiola Omisore.

It also postponed the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold on 18th and 19th of July.

Sen Abubakar Kyari Deputy National Chairman North, who presided over the emergency NWC meeting on Monday has now taken over the leadership of the party.

Fintiri Names Major Street After Late Statesman Mahmud Tukur

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has named a major street in the state capital, Yola, after a prominent son of the soil and former minister, Dr Mahmud Tukur.

A street famously called Abuja Road in Yola South Local Government Area is now to bear Dr Mahmud Tukur Street, courtesy of Fintiri’s decision to immortalise Mahmud Tukur, who is the brother of Bamangar Tukur, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Described as a scholar of high repute and a philanthropist of note, Dr Mahmud Tukur was the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and then Minister of Commerce and Industry when the immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, was Nigeria’s military head of state.
