Tinubu: You're Talking Of Buying 3000 CMG Buses, Which Roads Are They Going To Drive On" – Igho Akeregha

In an interview with AIT during the Kakaaki program, Igho Akeregha, a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, criticized President Tinubu’s plan to buy 3000 CMG buses, questioning the condition of the roads on which these buses would operate. He expressed his views on the fuel subsidy removal that led to protests by the NLC and TUC, and the police’s caution for peaceful protests.

Akeregha remarked on the challenges faced by Nigerians, stating that it’s difficult to expect peaceful protests from hungry citizens. He emphasized the importance of energy security worldwide and highlighted the constitutional mandate of the government to ensure the security and welfare of its citizens. He partly said, “President Tinubu is talking about buying 3000 CMG buses, but which roads are they going to drive on.”

Drawing attention to the reported state of roads, particularly after crossing Kogi state towards Delta and the south, he questioned the feasibility of the bus plan in the absence of proper road infrastructure.

He further criticized President Tinubu’s reputation as an expert and the need for tangible actions and results instead of constant demands from the people.

In summary, Igho Akeregha raised concerns about the practicality of President Tinubu’s bus purchase plan given the poor road conditions and the government’s responsibility to prioritize citizens’ welfare and security.
