Avoid Lagosnisation Of Appointments; APC Stakeholders Caution Tinubu

A report from Leadership highlights concerns raised by some stakeholders of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest geopolitical zone regarding the allocation of appointments within the party. The stakeholders, operating under the name Southwest APC Support Groups (SASG), have voiced their worries about a perceived bias towards politicians from Lagos in the distribution of presidential aides. The SASG warns that if this trend continues, it may create division within the party and undermine President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership. The group calls upon President Tinubu to ensure that appointments are fairly distributed across the entire Southwest region and to address the issue promptly.

According to the report, the SASG emphasizes the significant role played by other states in the Southwest in President Tinubu’s election as president in the 2023 polls. They argue that states such as Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo performed better than Lagos in the presidential election, and it would be unfair for Lagos alone to benefit from appointments meant for the entire region. The group also criticizes politicians from Lagos for their alleged sense of entitlement to the Tinubu administration, despite not contributing substantially to the success of the president. The SASG urges these politicians to stop pressuring Tinubu and calls for a more balanced distribution of appointments to promote unity within the Southwest and Nigeria as a whole.
