Demolition: Protesters back Wike, warn Tinubu’s ministers to deliver or resign

Former Rivers State Governor who was inaugurated as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, wasted no time to issue a warning to the owners of illegal buildings across the capital city, stating that their houses will soon be destroyed.

According to the former Governor, many buildings will go down irrespective of the position of the owners in the society, stating that his administration will restore the glory of the Capital Territory.

Reacting to the threat by the Minister, thousands of Nigerians took to the streets of Abuja on Wednesday to tell the former governor that he has two options, stating that either he performs as the FCT Minister or resign immediately.

However, the group of protesters said panic over the minister’ s alleged threat of demolition should not unsettle residents of the FCT. They stated that they believe the former Rivers Governor will perform excellently as the Minister, according to PUNCH.

Speaking to the journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Coordinator of The Natives, Edward Smart disclosed that Wike only stated the obvious about the illegal buildings across the Capital City.

” We are reassuring Nigerians not to be afraid. The country has to become greater and all of us will have to make sacrifices. Wike is not threatening. Wike was only demanding and asserting to do the right thing, ” he said.

He, however, told the Minister that failure would never be tolerated from him, he said: ” Hon. Ministers, come alive, wake up and rise up. You are 45 of the best amongst us, do not be a disgrace to us. Collectively and individually, we won’ t tolerate failure. “
