Passage: Ilorin Emirate Union mourns Akanbi, Daibu

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Central Zone, has commiserated with the people of Ilorin Emirate on the death of their children Prof. Muhammad Akanbi and Justice Titi Daibu.

This was contained in a statement by the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the union, Muktar Assayouti, on Wednesday in Ilorin, the State capital.

The zone covers Kwara, parts of Kogi, Oyo and Niger states.

Assayouti said that late Akanbi, a professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) was the Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, while Daibu was a Senior High Court Judge with the Kwara State Judiciary.

Akanbi died on Nov. 20 at the age of 51 after a protracted illness, while Daibu died on Nov. 21 at the age of 63, following an illness.

Assayouti described Akanbi as a humble and gentle man who loved and served humanity and his community with his knowledge and wealth.

He said the deceased lived an exemplary simple life like his late father, Justice Mustapha Akanbi, without blemish or amassing undeserved wealth.

In the same vein, he described late Daibu as a respected and illustrious daughter who lived a fulfilled life.

”She was a wife who never allowed her position as a judge to becloud her devotion to her husband, families and associates.

”The late judge was respected among her colleagues and family for her tolerance, and as a person who used her wealth to serve humanity and her community,” he said.

Assayouti described the duo as a pride to both their families and the Ilorin Emirate, adding that their legacies and landmarks would remain indelible in their minds.

He prayed God to forgive the deceased, and grant the families, friends, associates and the entire emirate the fortitude to bear the loss.
