Coup:Oseloka, Obi's Aide Reacts As Tinubu Cancels 7 Days Ultimatum And Sends Delegates For Peace Talk

Oseloka H Obaze, an aide to Peter Gregory Obi, a presidential aspirant from the Labour Party, has responded to the recent actions taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu concerning the military junta situation in Niger.

Initially, President Tinubu had issued a threat of military intervention during an ECOWAS meeting in response to the junta. However, he later reversed his approach and opted for a peaceful resolution. This shift involved retracting the seven-day ultimatum and selecting delegates for a peace negotiation with Niger.

In response to this change of stance, Oseloka H Obaze, a prominent figure in the Labour Party, praised President Tinubu for opting for a more diplomatic and conciliatory approach rather than a confrontational one. He expressed relief that the situation did not escalate into a military intervention, which could have led to a complex and challenging scenario reminiscent of the Vietnam War.

Oseloka highlighted that if President Tinubu had chosen military intervention, it could have potentially created a situation similar to the complexities faced during the Vietnam War.

President Tinubu’s decision to prioritize peaceful negotiations has been positively received, reflecting a preference for resolving conflicts through diplomatic means rather than resorting to aggressive actions. The hope now rests on the effectiveness of the chosen delegates’ discussions in addressing the underlying issues and fostering a peaceful resolution in Niger.
