COUP: Obi's Aide, Oseloka H. Obaze Reacts As Tinubu Cancels 7 Days Ultimatum And Send Delegates To Niger

Oseloka H. Obaze, an aide to the Labour Party presidential aspirant Peter Gregory Obi, reacted after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reversed his statement of issuing a seven-day ultimatum to the military junta in Niger, and instead chose peace over war.

President Tinubu had threatened the military junta in Niger Republic with military intervention during an ECOWAS meeting a few days ago. However, on Thursday, he withdrew the seven-day ultimatum and selected some delegates to go to Niger for a peace talk.

In response to this development, the Labour Party chieftain stated that the President’s decision demonstrated the wisdom of seeking peaceful resolution over conflict. He further pointed out that opting for military intervention would have presented a “Vietnamisque” quagmire.

In my opinion, I believe that President Tinubu did the right thing to send delegates to Niger for peace talks with the Military as war might not be the right way to solve things.
