Five Ministerial Slots To South-East Unjust And Unfair – Ohanaeze Tells Tinubu

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural Organisation has voiced discontent with President Bola Tinubu’s allocation of five ministerial positions to the South-East region. According to The PUNCH, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, said the figure was unfair and unjust.

Iwuanyanwu stated in a statement on Thursday that the South-East was shortchanged with only five states, whilst other zones had at least six. According to Iwuanyanwu, we demanded justice and fairness, the situation had put the South-East in a precarious political, economic, and social position.

“As a result, the South-East received only five states, whereas other zones received a minimum of six states.” This predicament has put the South-East in a severe political, economic, and social position. “Our political power has been reduced because we only have a few senators, as well as representatives in the House of Representatives, governors, the House of Assembly, and local governments.”

“In terms of federal revenue allocation, the South-East is denied revenue based on states.” We are strategically shortchanged in government board seats and other resource distributions. “We would like to emphasise that this situation was not caused by the current administration; however, we would like to appeal to His Excellency, Mr. Bola Tinubu, to assist us in resolving the situation and restoring justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria.”
