A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clark, has described the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the number one problem Nigeria has in the electoral system.
While speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Robert Clark said, “if the law is changed and INEC is told to go and conduct an election and come back to us and tell us how they conducted it, INEC will say these are the documents we used and tell the court how they conducted the elections and the court will see on the evidence that the job has been done.
Not for the courts to say my hands are tied. Whatever you do has preponderance of correctness attached to it. We have to look at that aspect and debar INEC that togger of correctness attached in the conduct of the election.” According to Robert Clark’s position, the preponderance of correctness attached to INEC in the conduct of elections is the reason why INEC is the country’s number one problem.
