Africa’s richest man, Dangote buys two cars every 8 years, he’s a very disciplined and different kind of billionaire – Davido reveals
Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that Africa’s richest person, Aliko Dangote buys two cars every eight years.
The DMW boss made the revelation during a recent interview with Forbes, where he also said he takes financial advise from the billionaire.
Davido talked about his family’s relationship with the CEO of Dangote Group, adding that his father, Adedeji Adeleke, and the world’s richest black person are friends.
According to Omo Baba Olowo, Dangote always adviseds him to save his money and not spend lavishly every time they meet.
Davido said; “Uncle Aliko is a very different kind of billionaire. Uncle Aliko buys like two cars every eight years. He’s a very disciplined and very different kind of billionaire.
“Every time I see him, he just says one thing, ‘Save your money!’. There’s nothing more he tells me, everytime save your money. He and my dad have been very close friends.
“And he Dangote has done well for us [Nigerians] back home. He made us a lot of industries. He just opened the biggest factory in Africa. That’s providing jobs.”
Meanwhile, producer, Don Jazzy took a swipe at music analysts who often criticise people like him and Davido for promoting their albums and that of musicians in their record label.
He threw an open challenge to them to show how many artistes whose talents they have been able to develop and turn into stars.
Don Baba J had advised budding as well as up-and-coming singers to emulate Davido’s style of promoting his album.
He wrote; “Dear artists hope you can see how Davido is marketing his album. He didn’t form oh I’m OBO so everybody will cop my shit. Marketting your beautiful project that you worked hard on does not reduce your swag.”
Reacting to his post, a fan drew his attention to the comments by music critics that it is forbidden by singers to engage in album self-promotion.
“Music twitter said promoting your album is haram sir,” he tweeted.
Jazzy noted that he sees their tweets, however, he hinted that he will take them serious if they can show any of the musicians that they brought to the limelight and shot to the peak.
“I see the tweets. Ask them to show you how many artists they have made,” he wrote.
