Tribunal: Labour Party, PDP, And NNPP Had 14,582,740 Votes, While APC Had 8,794,726 Votes – Lere Olayinka

Mr. Lere Olayinka, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), shared his perspective on the recent Presidential Election Petition Tribunal judgment. According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the election wouldn’t have been possible if the opposition parties had united.

In the Vanguard report dated September 8, 2023, Olayinka emphasized that in 2015, it took the collaboration of four opposition parties to unseat the PDP from power. In the 2023 election, he pointed out that the Labour Party, PDP, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) collectively garnered more than 14 million votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured just over 8 million votes. This resulted in a significant difference of over five million votes, indicating that a unified opposition front could have easily won the election.

Olayinka stated, “In 2015, it took the coming together of four opposition parties to defeat PDP. However, in 2023, the opposition was divided into three – PDP, Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Hear him; “In the presidential election, opposition PDP, LP, and NNPP had a total of 14,582,740 votes, while APC had 8,794,726 votes. The difference between APC votes and those of the opposition parties was 5,788,014, meaning that if the opposition parties had presented a common front, the election would have been won so easily.”
