Bwala reacts after Wike threatened to demolish houses that are not in line with the Abuja masterplan

In response to the recent threat issued by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), concerning the potential revocation of land titles and demolition of structures not aligned with the Abuja masterplan, legal practitioner Daniel Bwala has offered a cautionary note. As reported by Tribune paper on August 21, 2023, Bwala, who previously served as a campaign spokesperson for the presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised concerns that President Bola Tinubu might take action to remove Wike from his position if he poses a risk to the president’s interests.

Bwala conveyed his message through a social media post where he discussed Wike’s approach to handling matters in the FCT. Without directly mentioning Wike by name, Bwala criticized the minister’s aggressive stance and accused him of pursuing personal vendettas while in office. Bwala underlined the pressing needs of FCT residents, including access to healthcare, education, security, and proper infrastructure.

On Twitter, Bwala reminded Wike of the essential requirements of FCT residents, which encompass accessible healthcare facilities, quality education, well-maintained recreational spaces, affordable transportation options, functional street lighting, and overall security. He went on to warn Wike about the potential consequences of inciting chaos within the city, suggesting that such actions could negatively impact both the FCT and President Tinubu’s interests.

Bwala advised Wike to adopt a more humble approach in his role, emphasizing that a confrontational strategy could lead to unfavorable outcomes and potentially jeopardize his position as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
