Why President Tinubu Appointed Me As Minister Of Solid Minerals Development – Alake

Dele Alake disclosed the rationale behind President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint him as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development. Speculations had arisen regarding Alake’s potential assignment to the Ministry of Information and Communication. However, on Monday, Alake was officially sworn in as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the forty-five ministers, Alake explained that President Tinubu selected him for the role due to the sector’s crucial role in economic rejuvenation.

According to punch news, Alake clarified that he personally requested to be assigned to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, contrary to the widespread assumption that he would be designated for a particular portfolio.

He clarified, “I became aware of these discussions from the beginning of this administration when I was appointed Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy.”

Highlighting the importance of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development during this phase of economic renewal, Alake emphasized the administration’s commitment to revitalizing the sector. He stated that he asked President Tinubu for this specific ministry assignment, which the President granted.

Alake emphasized that the ministry’s significance to the administration prompted President Tinubu to entrust someone he had faith in to effectively deliver in this role.
