The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied the allegation that its operatives are killing and brutalizing some people suspected to be Biafra agitators.
Specifically, the DSS on Sunday denied allegations that its operatives target suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) or its militant wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), and force false confessions out of them.
The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya was quoted to have debunked the accusations in reaction to the allegation published in a report by an online news platform.
“There is no iota of truth in the so called exclusive. The DSS does not force out confessions from suspects and has not done so in the matter of IPOB and ESN,” he was quoted by The Nation to have said on a Whatsapp platform.
