This was revealed on Friday during a visit to the neighborhood by the state governor, Samuel Ortom, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor, Senator portraying Benue North- East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and PDP guber candidate, Engr Titus Uba, and others.

During the visit, Governor Ortom, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor, voiced his condolences to the families of the deceased and other victims. He reaffirmed the Benue State Government’ s position that, because the Federal Administration has failed to provide security for the people, the State Government should indeed be granted a license to purchase heavy weaponry for the Community Volunteer Guards to safeguard the people.

According to Ortom, the state’ s limited conventional intelligence services were overburdened and unable to provide sufficient protection for its citizens. With a sad expression on his face, the governor’ s representative stated that they are still waiting for the Federal Government’ s request for Volunteer Guards to use AK- 47s.
