Reactions As Sen. Shehu Sani Asks SERAP to Sue People Who Slept In Court During the PEPT Judgment

Senator Shehu Sani has sparked massive reactions from fellow Nigerians on Twitter with a post urging the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) to sue those who slept at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) sitting on Wednesday while the tribunal judges were delivering judgment.

The former lawmaker, in his characteristic style of putting his audience in a lighter mood with lighthearted and witty cracks, wrote:

His tweet follows pictures of the court session circulating on social media, showing several people, including lawyers, dignitaries, and journalists covering the session, sleeping while the judges read the lengthy judgment.

For the records, the PEPT judgment lasted for 12 solid hours.

SERAP has gained notoriety for suing political officeholders, governments at different levels, and government agencies over, sometimes, seemingly inconsequential issues. That reason alone made the senator’s tweet generate so much interest.

The reactions were mostly lighthearted and hilarious.
