Obi Failed To Prove That He Won The Presidential Election – INEC

Since the February 25th presidential elections came to an end, the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, had been in court to challenge the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, that produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president of the federation. As the battle moves closer to a conclusion in the election tribunal, many comments have been made about the election.

According to Premium Times, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, in a statement, has made it known that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, was unable to provide evidence to demonstrate that he obtained the majority of votes in the election. The Independent Commission said that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, came victorious in the race for the Commander in Chief.

INEC lead lawyer Yakubu Mahmoud, in a final address, said that Peter Obi failed to provide sufficient evidence to support his claim of having secured the majority of lawful votes during the election. He also said that the Electoral Act did not impose a mandatory task on INEC to transmit election results electronically.
